The Silicondust office

Our history

Silicondust began shipping HDHomeRun® branded products in 2007 in the US consumer market. HDHomeRun made live broadcast television available across a home network, so it could be watched on the TVs and other viewing devices connected to it.

From that start, Silicondust brought its television technology to consumer retail and commercial markets on a global scale, with solutions for homes, businesses, hotels, education facilities and other sites where live television is delivered to multiple viewing devices.

In 2025, Silicondust became an ATSC 3.0 certificate authority for NEXTGEN TV®, extending its work from television reception into the security of the broadcast itself.

Television technology from reception to delivery

Our work includes television reception and DVR for the home, commercial television distribution, ATSC 3.0 broadcast security and cloud content delivery for broadcasters.

  • Consumer television

HDHomeRun brings live broadcast television and DVR recording to the TVs, phones, tablets and computers throughout a home, including NEXTGEN TV reception.

  • Commercial television systems

HDGrandSlam delivers live and on-demand local television from one central system across apartment and condo communities, government and education facilities and other large sites.

  • ATSC 3.0 broadcast security

As an ATSC 3.0 certificate authority, Silicondust issues the FullTrust certificates that authenticate the transmissions of FCC-licensed television stations, and AskTrust™ certificates for ATSC 3.0 in private RF environments. Its patent-pending OCSP solution keeps broadcasts compliant through internet outages.

  • Cloud content delivery

Silicondust operates a CDN designed for the ATSC 3.0 broadcast industry, delivering broadcasters’ sub-channels to ATSC 3.0 televisions with in-DMA protection, real-time viewership insights and end-to-end health monitoring.
