Re: Unable to communicate with server

Do you have any ad blocking systems in use, particularly anything DNS-based like PiHole or OpenDNS?

Re: Tampa WTSP (CBS) Goes DRM

GE 29884 Decent UHF antenna, basically rabbit ears for VHF, so that would explain reception problems on Tampa NBC, CW, CBS, Fox, and PBS, which are all on VHF. Have you ever tried with the antennas reversed, the RCA pointing towards Tampa and the GE pointing towards Ft. Myers? Everything in Ft. Mye...

Curious, what kind of antenna do you have pointed at Tampa?

Re: Encryption

As has been pointed out previously, the "broadcast encoding rules" aren't laws or regulations, they're just what the broadcasters that make up A3SA agreed to. They can change those rules at any time if the majority of the voting committee agrees to change them.

Just a reminder, "Discussion of third party products that do not utilize HDHomeRun tuners" is off-topic.

Nick will post an update when he has one. He hasn't even said anything to us yet, so he's probably several dozen pages deep.

Re: Recordings interrupted

Since it's a Windows PC doing the recording, there's also a good chance that the problem is software, not hardware. Do you have any third-party firewall, security, antivirus, or antimalware software installed on the PC? If so, either get rid of it, or at least make sure that it is set to exclude the...

Re: Replacing Hard Drive

Unplug the power, unplug the drive, plug in the new drive, plug in the power. If the new drive is blank, it will automatically be formatted for use. If not, you'll have a button to format it on the HDHomeRun's web page at http://hdhomerun.local/ . Transferring recordings can be done, but it requires...

Re: HDHomeRun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 Next GenTV Tuner

Any third-party app would need to license the DRM system, implement it, and complete compliance testing to prove that their implementation meets all the security requirements. Viewing of protected content outside the home would be prohibited no matter what. I can't see any reason why Plex or Emby wo...

Re: Channel Information ATSC3

The HTTP interface is intended for use by apps that are streaming video to watch or record, and therefore will return an error and close the connection if the channel cannot be streamed for some reason. You would need to tune using the hdhomerun_config command line program (or the libhdhomerun C lib...

Does 2.1 get found if you run a channel scan on the Channel Lineup page on your HDHomeRun's web page at http://hdhomerun.local/ ?

Re: Chicago Finally, sadly DRM

WBBM is the host broadcaster, so it's not technically low power, just VHF, though running at less power than most VHF broadcasts these days. They do have a permit to bump up to 30kW, but I'm going to assume that can't be done until the rest of the work on Willis Tower is done. Given how that project...

Re: Little to no channels detected. Anything I can do before throwing in the towel?

The logs indicate that a hardware failure has occurred. The device is out of warranty at this point, but we can offer a discount on a replacement. Please open a support ticket if you're interested, https://www.silicondust.com/support/trouble-ticket/ .

Re: Encryption

All HDHomeRun devices function as gateways, taking broadcast or cable TV and making it available to other devices over the network. Of course, only the models with ATSC 3.0 support (CONNECT 4K, FLEX 4K, SCRIBE 4K) matter to this particular discussion.
