Windows Firewall

You will receive a prompt to allow your DVR application to use the network. Once approved Windows Firewall will work with the HDHomeRun.

ZoneAlarm

Some versions of ZoneAlarm interfere with the video data from the HDHomeRun. If you encounter this problem then you should upgrade to the latest version of ZoneAlarm. It is not sufficient to disable ZoneAlarm - ZoneAlarm must be completely uninstalled. A reboot is required after uninstalling ZoneAlarm.

McAfee Security Center

Some versions of McAfee Security Center block the video data from the HDHomeRun. If you encounter this problem then you should upgrade to the latest version of McAfee Security Center.

PC-cillin firewall

The PC-cillin firewall will block communication if the network is configured in Windows as a "public" network. In the Network and Sharing Center ensure the network is configured as "private".

Symantec Endpoint

The versions of Symantec Endpoint as of the time of this writing cause the HDHomeRun Setup application to abort with an application error. Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint will solve the problem.

eTrust Virus Scanner

The eTrust Virus Scanner can cause MCE to lock up when entering Live TV mode or when changing channel.

Linux / FC6 Firewall

FC6 runs a firewall by default. If the HDHomeRun cannot be discovered then open UDP port 65001 or disable the firewall.
