Sony BDP-S590 Bluray Player

Postby jmpcap » Sat Jan 19, 2013 5:19 pm

I can see the LiveDMS on the BRP, and folders for CableTV and Premium CableTV, but get the "There is no playable file" message only - no channels. I have it partially working on a Panasonic Viera TC-P50GT50 (great picture, good sound out on Cable TV, but no sound output on Premium Cable TV???) and getting the non copy-protected SD channels (good pic and sound) using XBMC on Samsung GalaxySII phone with Android 4.0.4. Very promising upgrade that will be great if bugs can be worked out in the Beta!

I contacted Sony this morning regarding the device. I told them it worked before the firmware update and informed them.afterward the feature was broken. They then preceded to have me reset the factory settings and try the same we can we settings changes that their online support provided the night before. Finally they admitted they had never heard of the HD prime and at that point I asked if the firmware could be reverted. Hey said no at the host point I said I would be return the player and they thanked me for my patience. What a waste of time.

In the end and stated to them that the latest update broke existing functionality and they said that they would look into it further.

My Sony BDP-S590 does not see the HDHomeRun server at all. It shows me various streaming sites like Netflix, Vudu, flickster etc but not HDHomeRun. I have verified that there is a DLNA server on the network - Windows 8 ==> Add Device shows the HDHomeRun server. The laptop, HDHomeRun tuner and Sony player are all on the same network. Any suggestions? Or am I looking in the wrong spot for the DLNA server?

Thanks,

Camvan

So on your computer do you see "HDHomeRun Live DMS" listed on your network map as an available device?

Personally - I have been able to 'Play to' the Sony player certain channels, however I am experiencing the same behavior as OP.

I was going to ask if you were on the latest beta but it is now the past beta, new beta out today. DLNA has now been CableLabs certified so with this download of the beta the DLNA is open; registration is no longer necessary to activate the DLNA [just fyi].
