Windows Media Center Alternatives for Project Connect

Postby RichNahra » Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:49 pm

Thought it would be nice to have a list of software titles that can or cannot be used for DLNA-IP streaming.

I'll start...

ArcSoft Total Media Theatre Version 5.31 CANNOT playback anything. It only sees the HDHR and the channel lineup.

XBMC RC3 i can playback copy free video but have no audio. EDIT: Audio works fine in XBMC. For some reason, XBMC didn't honor the default audio device which resulted in sound being mapped to my Logitech headset.

Windows Media Player works pretty well for copy free stuff.

Start a thread for each one IMO, or use one of the existing threads.

I'd be interested in knowing which software applications can play back copy protected TV.

This thread seems like a good start.

I feel it would be better to list what works and does not for a particular operating system and to what extent. Then people have a better reference point and may find that others can make it work. They can compare notes to create a path to success. The title seems a bit off focus and confusing [no offense] as to which MS OS [XP, Vista, W7, W8] as all are in play now and could lead to confusion as to what third party software is working on what OS.
