Sony TV and DLNA problem

Postby mosss » Sat Jan 19, 2013 7:26 am

Hi all,
I just updated to the newest beta, I am able to see the HDhomerun live DMS on my tablet and laptop. However, I am not able to see on Sony TV (HX800) or blue ray player.

While I click on media server troubleshooting

I saw my PC connect to the TV is successful (also can see in regular menu)

I do see all Hdhomerun in media server troubleshooting

However, all three Hdhomerun turners are unsuccessful (all said the device is not compatible to DLNA)

and the HdHomerun live DMS 13xxxxx connection is unsuccessful also, It said the compatible files could not be found

please help

Thanks

The LiveDMS is the only prime file that you should be able to access via DLNA. Which Bluray drive?

Found this info -

Sony TV DLNA setup –
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/micr ... 1&fes=true
Three videos and script on setup.

Sony Bluray Disc player not seeing DLNA –
If some of the DLNA content does not display on the Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) player, follow these steps to restore the DLNA content:
1. Using the supplied remote control, press Home to go to the Home menu of the BD player.
2. Press the left/right arrow buttons to select Setup, then press the Enter button.
3. On the Setup menu, press the up/down arrow buttons to select Network Settings, then press the Enter button.
4. On the Network Settings menu, press the up/down arrow buttons to select Connection Server Settings, then press the Enter button.
5. On the Connection Server Settings, press the Options button on the remote control.
6. Press the up/down arrow buttons to select Delete All Media Servers, then select Yes.
7. Press the Options button on the remote control again.
8. Press the up/down arrow buttons to select Update Server List.
Your DLNA content should now be restored and should be viewable on the BD player.
UPDATES - update can be downloaded by selecting the Network Update option in the BD player menu.

I see the same problem... I had already opened a support case. My SONY TV and my SONY BluRay, both have the same problem... This is my problem description:

I am part of the new DLNA beta and I tried to connect the HD HomeRun Prime into two
SONY devices, a TV and a BluRay player.

Both devices "see" the new media server defined as "HDHomeRun Live DMS 13146397" when I select the
Media Server Troubleshooting, but it displays the "UNSUCCESSFUL" status. The HDHomeRun Prime DLNA server
is not displayed in the list of servers ready for use, not in the TV, not in the BluRay device.

Details on the "unsuccessful" status state the following:
COMPATIBLE FILES COULD NOT BE FOUND
Server Name: HDHomeRun Live DMS 13146397
UDN: uuid: CDA4372B-1932-3A37-9988-60A9010...
ip aDDRESS: 192.168.1.152
mac aDDRESS: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (i AM not writing it here due to internet email security exposure)
TCP Port: 4444

The SONY TV is BRAVIA KDL-60LX900, DLNA certificate is included as an attachment.

The same happens when I try to connect to the SONY BluRay player.

It seems there is some incompatibility between the HDHomeRun Prime and the Sony Devices when using
DLNA. I am not sure whether there is a need to do any special setup at the router.

My Setup is the following: HDHomerun Prime connected directly to a computer via an unmanaged
Gigabit switch. The computer connects to TV1 via HDMI cable from the video card.

The switch mentioned above is also connected to the router Linksys E1500 via a wireless bridge.
The Sony TV and Sony BluRay player are connected to the router via their built-in wireless adapters.

Pls let me know whether you need any more details.

Thanks.

Hi,
Applied this for my BDP S570 and it fails test. States on 3 of 4 results that it is not DLNA device and 1 is an IP problem which I tried auto and manual on 2 routers wireless (cant do wired) I do get on menu 100% signal. but I will try again

The 3 entries you see related to the 3 tuners need to be disregarded. The only DLNA enabled server is "HDHomeRun Live DMS xxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxx is your tuner ID... Having said that, the feature is NOT working with SONY devices... as far as I can tell.

Is there anyone at Silicon Dust looking into the SONY compatibility problem?
I have seen I am not the only one facing DLNA problems and I have not heard anything back from SD.
Please, we need your help and we DO want to collaborate on the beta testing, but we need to get
feedback when we submit a problem related to DLNA. Thanks.

New 20130125beta1 helps with the TV... it seems to wotk with the regular cable channels, but not with the premium ones... Also only SD works, HD pixelates a lot (same wireless connection works fine with another computer using media center... ) ... SONY Bluray still cannot see the media server ...

As I mentioned in your other post, DLNA requires more bandwidth than UPnP. I would recommend wired or at least 72mbps wireless N for HD channels over DLNA.

Many thanks, that confirms what I was guessing...
Time to upgrade my router :-) ... Then I would say that the SONY TV issue with DLNA seems to be fixed, although I am not sure whether the premium channels folder should have content (I do have premium channels), but if yes, this seems to be the only problem now, how to access the premium content. On the other hand, there is still work required on the firmware to make the Prime compatible with the Sony BluRay.
