Samsung es8000

Postby Jdoo » Fri Jan 18, 2013 8:22 pm

I successfully registered and can see the prime via upnp in xbmc. My es8000 is connected to the Internet and can stream dlna through home group sharing on my htpc and has Internet access.

Unfortunately the es8000 isn't seeing the prime as a dlna source in either the sources menu or the allshare app.

Anyone have this working on es8000?

It shows in both the sources list, and allshare on my D8000 series. Did you power cycle everything, including the prime after doing the channel scan? It doesn't work right until you do that.

So far I've had it working on my PS3, XBMC, Samsung TV

Two things to check. From the TV DLNA do you see computers, that are on, on the list of DLNA sources? On any computer does the prime show up on the network map and the TV also?

EDIT: Check your network through the TV = Menu button on Samsung remote control, find Setup file > network setup [select auto setup]; try network test.

It is possible that you must set up PC Share Manager on a computer to get the TV to see all the DLNA possibilities. http://www.samsung.com/us/pdf/dlna_guide.pdf

Thanks for the suggestoins. The TV can see DLNA shares from my computer through homegroup sharing. XBMC can see the HDHR upnp and can tune the unencrypted channels. So the upnp on the prime is working and the TV is looking for DLNA.

I thought it was maybe because I was using wifi but even going wired the prime wont show up under allshare for the TV. Obviously I have power cycled everything :)

Will try that samsung pc software next, otherwise I guess I will just give up and go back to wmc for a while.

Thanks

:edit: That Samsung Allshare software on PC immediately recognised the prime, and the TV immediately saw the allshare dlna server as well. I guess there is something specific with the es8000 and hdhomerun prime.

upgraded to the beta posted yesterday, still no love from my 2012 55" es8000. My tv has the latest firmware as well.

I guess it makes sense that the guy with the es7500 was having trouble as well, as both TV's use the same firmware file: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owner ... ES8000FXZA

Samsung released a firmware update for the north american es8000 series today. Unfortunately no change re: detecting the prime as a DLNA source via the TV here.

My es7150 (Costco version of the es7100) doesn't see my Prime, either, nor my bd-es6000 Blu-Ray player.

I installed InstaTV Lite on my iPad 2 and it sees it and tunes just fine. The iPad becomes pretty sluggish when playing HD, but otherwise works great (in the tiny window for the Lite version).

I do get the DTCP-IP on the system status page of the Prime:

Hardware Model HDHR3-CC
Firmware Version 20130121beta1
DTCP-IP DTCP 1.7-SD20121110
WMDRM-NDT WMDRM 10-SD20121110
Memory Report 64 MB SDRAM, 2 MB Flash

I'm thinking Samsung may ONLY be looking for Music, Pictures and Video.

If I run the sample code listed here:

http://search.cpan.org/~skonno/Net-UPnP ... olPoint.pm

I get this:

[0] : linux01: minidlna
Browse Folders
Music
Pictures
Video
[1] : HDHomeRun Live DMS 13106261
Cable TV
Premium Cable TV
[2] : HDHomeRun Live DMS 13106261
Cable TV
Premium Cable TV

minidlna works fine. I do not see a separate "Browse Folders" on my TV or Blu Ray player.

Can I get a copy of the beta firmware .bin with "Cable TV" changed to "Video" to see if that's really the problem?
