Should I beta DLNA?

Postby KNKLHEAD » Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:17 am

I have a Prime box that I've loaded the latestest in Beta software and all seems to be working well. My wife would not be happy if I tweaked the system and lost any functionality. We have a great set-up: LivingRoom, Master BR, Office all on ethernet; and Kitchen, Guest BR both on Wireless N working perfectly on Win7 and Win8 WMC, I'd hate to upset the apple cart, but intrigued by DLNA.

I have lots of Android, Windows and iOS tablets, etc., around the house, but not sure I have any "DLNA" compatible. I'd love to have a bathroom device set up since I'm a guy. :)

My goal is 99% keep everything working perfectly and 1% very interested in what DLNA can do. Should I Beta? And what would I BETA DLNA on?

I am also eager to try the new firmware but am worried about my current setup. Currently im on the latest official firmware on 2 prime units and have not been installing any betas as they seem to cause issues. Is it safe to install the DLNA beta without messing up my WMC setup? As of now my setup is running pretty solid and i would rather not introduce problems with WMC.

I can only speak for myself but Its been rock solid so far with Win7 WMC. I have FiOS and was previously on 20121226beta1. I did not upgrade to 20130104beta1 because some people were still having issues I think... don't quote me. But this new beta seems to be at the same quality as 20121226beta1 for me.

I think im going to take the plunge. I just realized that there is an official release and then a new beta that looks like it enable dlna. I was under the impression that there was only a beta. If there is an official release it make me think that this should perfom well.
