VLC, XBMC and PLEX all work as a DLNA player on OSX. no premium channels though. Looks like elgato might support DTCP-IP in the future.

How would you add the HDHRPrime to Plex? I've been looking for a while and can't figure it out. Thanks.

I am trying to get something functioning on my iMac to view the DLNA stream, but I can't get a client to work. I have installed the most current version of VLC, but it can't find the stream.

Has anyone successfully used a Mac client yet (OSX) that can take advantage of the DLNA?

Of course - the second I make this post, it is now appearing and usable. Not sure what changed (as I tried this for days) but I am now viewing the stream using VLC on my iMac.

And now VLC froze - restarted, and the stream is once again missing.

Not to keep spamming this thread, but I want to share my experiences...

VLC picked up the stream again and it is working fine. However - when you close VLC and reopen, it takes quite a long time for network discovery of the HDHR Prime unit. Once I wait about 5 minutes, it will then appears - but in the UPNP playlist.

FYI to the HDHR Engineers...

That symptom could suggest a software firewall is blocking unicast SSDP replies to multicast SSDP discover requests.

If the unicast replies are blocked the HDHomeRun will not be detected when VLC is first run... it will take up to 10 minutes to discover (the HDHomeRun sends SSDP announcements every 10 minutes).

On Windows machines we have a test for this that runs when you run HDHomeRun Setup. We do not have an automatic test for OSX yet.

Sorry haven't checked up on this forum for a bit.
Open plex -> video channels -> press "c" button -> add source -> browse -> UPNP Devices ... etc

hope that helps

VLC is buggy for me too. Haven't had any issues using plex or xbmc in osx

I followed your procedure to add my Prime to Plex (Mac).

I see Plex grabbing all of the available tuners for some reason. After watching for a while, if I want to change channels I may or may be able to get a tuner. If I use the hdhomerun_config_gui I see the plex box using them all.

I've been having to go to the Prime and power cycle it to free up the tuners.

Have you seen this?

That happened on my tuner as well. I found that if you just kill plex, it frees up the tuners. At least I think thats what I found. It's been a few days since I tried it. I saw it didn't work worth a darn so I gave up on it.
