XBMC???

Postby scottte » Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:24 am

I am running RC 3 of Frodo and cant get live tv to work. I am getting TV via Windows media player (not media center) so I think that tells me I have the DLNA part working. Anyone that has gotten live tv to stream to XBMC, can you publish a short "how to"

Thanks in advance!!!

Eden works for me

Postby okuturn » Fri Jan 18, 2013 9:50 am

I've not installed Frodo yet but Eden works. Fired right up without any hesitation. Just went to Add Video, uPnP Devices, chose the DMS device, chose the Cable TV folder, it was empty but that was expected. Then clicked OK, removed from scans and gave it a proper name. Went back to sources and it was there, clicked it and the channel list came up. Now if I could just buffer it for a pause function this would be bliss.

Agreed, that worked for me as well, curious if anyone is actually using the Live TV function in current RC of Frodo? I use media center today, but love XBMC, would be sweet if it could eventually play live tv and record along with everything else it does already!

Yeah it worked for me too on my Win7 machine. Having to go by the LiveTV tab on my way to the Video tab irks me. I am hoping we will have a PVR client coming our way in the next phase or two of Project.Connect.

A PVR client would be great. I currently use a set of advanced launcher scripts to switch over to WMC to handle live TV and XBMC for everything else. Having it all in XBMC would certainly be more elegant.

Does anyone know if there is any way that XBMC will ever be able to view content flagged "copy once" with project connect? Or is it even thoretically possible to use something like the SoftDMA software mentioned above as an external player with XBMC TV functionality?

Registered OK, but no audio

I can access the HDHomeRun Prime in XBMC, but on all stations I get only video - no audio. Other video/audio works fine in XBMC, and Live TV in WIndows Media Center (based on the HDHomeRun Prime) works fine as well. Any idea what I should be checking?

I just tried out the beta with XBMC 12.0 RC3, and wow! I'm very impressed. Everything seems to be working perfectly. Surprisingly, I'm even able to pause, fast forward, and rewind. Obviously this isn't using XBMC's new PVR system, so there isn't a guide or anything, but it's still very nice. A million times easier to set up too.

+1

I really wish there was an addon dedicated for it on XBMC rather then browsing via filemanager. Playback works great on XBMC, just needs a good UI to go with it.

Doubt XBMC will ever get approved to play "copy once" material since its open source. If XBMC could decrypt the streams then anyone could modify it to start recording unencrypted copies of "copy once" videos.

I had the same problem (Frodo RC3). Go to, System > Settings > System > Audio Output. The first option selects your output type, with the options being - Analog / Optical / HDMI.

The new DLNA beta firmware worked flawlessly on my HD Prime. Im currently running Openelec 3.0 RC1 on an Acer Revo 3700 nettop. What I really liked? Streaming directly from my Prime to my htpc was faster than streaming from my MythTV backend. Loading the channels was definitely faster. What I dont like? INo option to use a programming guide when adding the HD Prime as an uPnP source. I also cant browse channels by simply hitting the channel up button on my remote. Instead I have to stop each channel I stream to.

I think this is a nice step forward but needs much more development to better integrate it into xbmc.
