One to go to the PC, and one to plug in another HDHR, so we can daisy chain the new cable card 2 tuners system with another one, or with the current 2 tuners one, without needing a second internet port on the PC, or using a hub.
Thanks for listening |
That means SD will have to build a gigabit switch into HDHR. That's extra cost and price increase that most of us don't want or need. |

| In order to reduce the signal loss with an external splitter, I'd like to see a switch that forces the tuners to use the same input. This would save 3.5db on the signal, presuming the internal tuners can just connect to the same wire in that mode. |

| I'd like to second the request for the hdhomerun to be able to work as a dlna server. All I want is for it to be controllable as a tuner, being able to select channels, and play the live stream to a renderer or to a dlna server for recording. No need for hdhomerun to record, pause, etc. |

| Doesn't matter where the split is, it will still cut the signal in half, or roughly 3.5dB of loss. |

Exactly what I want, too. My idea is HDHR shows up as a DLNA server and each tunable channel appears under the server as a clip. Playing the clip from a DLNA client starts streaming of MPEG2 stream from HDHR.
I can see 2 possible issues from this setup: First is the configuration of available channels. Right now this is done on a client side software and stored on client side, too. DLNA server will have to do this by itself. But I think a web-base interface can handle it.
Second issue is I am not sure DLNA server has to report the length of a clip when it's selected to stream by a client. A live TV stream is infinite in length. How this is communicated between server and client can be a problem. And obviously without buffering/recording, fast forward/backward control won't work.
Still, it's probably the best plug-n-play approach for a TV tuner. |

| I'd like to see the streams accompanied by data like the channel or callsign, or what's on now. |

1) better reception
2) better reception
3) better reception
I've seen many comparisons where other tuners had better reception
than the hdhr. Fix the reception and I'll buy a new one. |
